Learn about the development of salsa music, while Jose Obando, a consultant with the Musical Instrument department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and African percussionists leads you through dance and

call-response singing. Several instruments; clave, maracas and guiros will be introduced. Space is limited.

Rock and Mineral Weekend

Enjoy a ROCKIN’ weekend at the Morris Museum! Examine rare fossils, see fluorescent mineral displays or catch a guest speaker. Society members will be available to identify your rocks and minerals. Exhibitors with private collections and top mineral, gem and fossil dealers will be on hand. There will also be events for children, including a sand box scavenger hunt, a mineral magic show and earth science videos. There will be tons to see, do and learn!

Come in from the cold and enjoy a day at the Morris Museum! Wander throughout the galleries and then enjoy a performance by the Universal African Drum & Dance Ensemble in the Bickford Theatre (show times are 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.). Featuring unique drum beats, traditional African costumes and acrobatics, this spectacular show celebrates Kwanzaa, the annual festival of family, community, culture and peace.

Use your creativity and imagination in an art workshop to make Kwanzaa candles using craft materials. Food will be available to purchase.
